Ava is obsessed with my purse. She is constantly checking to make sure I have it when we’re heading out the door and wants to double and triple check to be sure that her snacks/crayons/etc are safely stowed in there. We each have hooks by the front door and I make sure my purse is kept there, high out of reach, lest I find her sneaking a pen or my lip gloss when she thinks I’m not looking.
She has her own purses, of course. Several. There’s a panda purse, a ‘Life is Good’ bag, and even a fancy silk and bamboo number, however her favorite is one that she picked up at my Mom’s house. Not sure where it came from but it’s pretty horrid with it’s bright green vinyl exterior and the turquoise-y blue lining. Our rule is that she can take it with her when we leave the house but the purse has to stay in the car.
As we were preparing to leave she asked me to hold her purse while she got her shoes on. It weighed a TON so I decided to take a peek and find out exactly what she had in there…

This is what we discovered:
(1) lens cleaning cloth – used frequently around our house for eyeglasses and camera lenses. These are stored in a drawer in our hallway that I didn’t even know she could get in to.
(2) mini board books – I always have one or two of these in my purse. My mom told me to always keep a tiny book in my purse since you never know when you’ll need it. Good advice and it’s come in handy more than once.
(1) photographer’s business card – from Anne Companion Photography. Anne is the photographer who did our Celebrate Adoption photo shoot in January (and who took the photo in our blog header). We will be seeing her again in a couple of weeks for a family photo card session.
(1) pair shoes and (1) pair socks – these shoes had been missing FORever. I can’t imagine why I didn’t think to look here before. I mean come on, doesn’t everyone keep a spare set of footwear in their purse?
(1) mini Pooh
(1) Nestle Quik Fat-free chocolate milk bottle cap
(1) bug spray bottle cap
(2) miscellaneous receipts – she almost had to have taken these out of my purse since I have 9 billion or so in there. That’s where I file them apparently.
(2) One dollar bills – no idea where these came from and I sincerely hope this is not an ominous sign of future career choices somewhere down the line.
So that’s what my funny girl carts around in her big girl purse. I shudder to think at how long it would take to lay out the contents of my purse what will all the mom stuff (books, band-aids, kleenex, antibacterial get AND wipes, Clorox wipes, cheerios, well you get the idea, I’m sure) that I tote around these days.
